150th Anniversary of THE BATTLE OF MOBILE BAY – Fri 6:30pm, Sat 9am-9pm, Sun 10am-2pm, Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores;   Sat starting at 1pm, Sun starting at 10am at Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island

This is a commemoration of the Civil War battle when the Union fleet tried to take the port of Mobile, the last major port not taken by Union forces.  Eventually both Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan fell, and the port was closed to blockade runners, but Mobile was never taken.

Re-enactors from across the country will gather at Fort Morgan, complete with authentic music, period costumes, tall ships and artillery fire.  Highlights include the Naval battle Sat at 10am and the Grand Bombardment (with artillery and pyrotechnic explosions) Sat at 8pm.    CLICK HERE

On Dauphin Island, Fort Gaines will host a 2-day event (Sat/Sun) with a Naval Battle (1pm Sat) and the Siege of Ft Gaines (12 noon Sun).  CLICK HERE
