The American Idol train bus made its way to Downtown Mobile today, and hundreds turned out believing they have what it takes to be the next American Idol. Hopefuls lined up inside the Convention Center before heading over to GulfQuest for their actual auditions. Senior Supervising Producer Patrick Lynn told al.com that they're "very happy" with the turnout:
“For this many people to turn out for our first bus stop is good … It’s a good crowd, they’re pretty positive.”
While covering the auditions for al.com, Lawrence Specker may have even stumbled on one of the next big talents from the area. When 18-year-old Aliana Jester of Fort Walton Beach sang for the judges, Specker says "her delivery cut through the noisy environment like a knife, drawing an ovation from the crowd around her."
The next season of American Idol will air in 2020 and will be its third season on ABC. The show made stars of Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Scotty McCreery, Jennifer Hudson, and Kelly Clarkson. Two of the show's champions are from Alabama: Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard.
