Flags are flying at half-staff today across Alabama. Governor Kay Ivey proclaimed today a Day of Remembrance, saying "it is fitting and right that all Alabamians pause in remembrance of those lost and in honor of those who survived one of the most devastating natural disasters in our state."
I remember my friends who were on the phone to their children, students at the University, as the massive tornado approached. And some who waited hours to hear from those students, hearing them tell about the damage and the loss and how frightening it was.
