The Real "Rosie the Riveter" Has Died

"Rosie the Riveter" has died.

Her name was Naomi Parker and she worked at a Naval Air Station in California after Pearl Harbor.

But we didn't find that out until 2016.

That's because Geraldine Hoff Doyle, back in 1984, said she was the woman in the photo that inspired the poster.

No one, apparently, checked her story.  And she died believing it.

So did everyone else, until a professor dug deeper, found the photo, and the caption that read  "Pretty Naomi Parker looks like she might catch her nose in the turret lathe she is operating."
