Route 91 Harvest Festival - One year later

Honestly can't believe it's been a year. It seems like yesterday. The Route 91 Harvest Festival affected us all in different ways. After word spread about what happened, the deadly mass shooting in US History, my daughter came to me with tears in her eyes. It was the first time I'd seen her scared about me going to work.

"Mama, you have to go on stage at events all the time. What if something like that happens to you?"

It was a question I was not prepared for, because in the moment I was terrified. However, I somehow mustered up this response and now know it was God speaking through me to her when I simply had no words. "Kid, if cower in fear and no longer live our lives with the intent to spread and experience joy, then the monsters win. This man was a monster and he will NOT win."

I still believe it in my heart today. I still go on stage. Artists still perform. We will kick fear's ass. Period. Fear is a liar and a terrorist and we have no room for it here.
