It was fun to dream for a couple of days. The Mega Millions jackpot was worth nearly $1.6 billion, making it the biggest jackpot in US history. And even though I never play the lottery, I asked a co-worker who lives in Florida to put down $15 on tickets.
I started thinking about what I'd do if I won. Yes, I'd eventually quit my job because #travel. But not right away. I wasn't going to let anyone know I'd won that easily, so I'd put up the ruse for a while, until all the money issues were sorted and I had a plan. Yes, travel... lots and lots of travel. But I was also thinking about the ways I'd invest in the city. I love Mobile and think there are plenty of great things we could do if only we'd make the investments. So I was ready to put my ideas to the test, and I was thinking about the irony of a city in Alabama (where lotteries are illegal) benefiting from... a lottery.
And then, I saw the winning numbers.
5 - 28 - 62 - 65 - 70 and a megaplier number of 5.
I had a 62 among my five combinations. That is all.
Oh well, it wasn't actually worth $1.6 billion anyway. The number was actually closer to $1.537 billion.
I don't have a Powerball ticket, even though tonight's jackpot is worth an estimated $620 million. So until the next big jackpot.... back to work.
