65th Anniversary of "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas"

Gayla Peevey recorded “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” back in 1953... and the Oklahoma City native's song became the inspiration for getting the OKC Zoo its first hippopotamus.  Which meant getting a hippo for Gayla, right?

Gayla, the hippo, and the OKC Zoo became permanently linked... and Gayla goes back from time to time, including today, to sing the song with the kids on its 65th anniversary.

Bet you can't watch this without singing along too!

In conjunction with the 65th anniversary, the OKC Zoo is raising money to benefit pygmy hippo conservation efforts.  Plus, it's kind of a cool shirt... that comes with, of course, a stuffed hippo!
