Fairhope has been a busy place for the movie business. The latest project coming to the Eastern Shore is a movie called The Best Friend. The film was announced today on the City of Fairhope's Facebook page, saying that it is "based on a true story that took place here in our beautiful city!"
The movie will feature country star Jake Owen, who's acting for the first time. He spoke about it on the latest episode of The Bobby Cast -- a podcast from 95/KSJ's Bobby Bones Show.
The Best Friend also stars Casey Affleck, who won an Academy Award for Manchester By the Sea; and Dakota Johnson, who's best know for the Fifty Shades movies -- movies she won't let her parents watch.
Filming will take place in February and March.
The critically-acclaimed Get Out was filmed around Fairhope and went on to win an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. The movie also received a Best Picture nomination.
More recently, Liam Hemsworth and Vince Vaughn were spotted on the Gulf Coast while filming their new movie Arkansas, which is currently in post-production.
