Häagen-Dazs Unveils Alcohol-Infused Ice Cream

There's nothing better than good ice cream, or so we thought. Häagen-Dazs has decided to give us ice cream infused with booze. Check out some of these new flavors:

  • Irish Cream Brownie
  • Rum Tres Leches
  • Bourbon Vanilla Bean Truffle
  • Stout Chocolate Pretzel Crunch
  • Bourbon Praline Pecan
  • Non-Dairy Amaretto Black Cherry Almond Toffee
  • Irish Cream Cookie Squares

People magazine got a hold of a few samples and has confirmed that you can clearly taste the alcohol flavors in each one. The company tried out this idea in Canada more than a year ago , and it was apparently a very successful launch. By March 1st, Häagen-Dazs Spirits will be available at Häagen-Dazs shops, and a wide release at grocery stores nationwide during April. The suggested price is $5.29 per pint.

But if you think this alcohol-infused ice cream will get you drunk, think again. You might not even get a buzz, because the alcohol content is only 0.5%. Compare that to a typical beer at 5%, or wine at 13%. At a mere 0.5%, that's about the same alcohol content as a Beck's non -alcoholic beer . Still enough to get you carded, though. According to CNBC , only those who are 21 and up will be allowed to purchase. And while nobody seems quite sure about this, some state regulations could prevent it from being available at grocery stores.
