Alabama Severe Weather Sales Tax Holiday THIS Weekend

Think about everything you need to get through a hurricane or a tornado or any other weather disaster.

A can opener that doesn't require electricity. Flashlights. Batteries. Cellphone battery and charger. Duct tape. Plywood.

Maybe even a generator.

This weekend is Alabama's Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. Beginning at 12:01 a.m., on Friday, February 22, and ending at midnight on Sunday, February 24, the purchase of severe weather preparedness items valued at $60 or less are exempt from state sales tax. Portable generators and power cords under $1,000 each are also exempt.

Local taxes may still apply. You can see if your local area is participating HERE.
