"Avengers: Endgame": What You Need to Know

I started out watching the Marvel movies with my son... well, re-watching. Because he saw them at the midnight showings and we watched them together later when they hit TV. I think the only one we saw together at the theater was "Guardians of the Galaxy" (which will always be my favorite). But obviously, he's more invested than I am; he saw them in order as they came out.

He's ready for "Avengers: Endgame" but I have some catching up to do.

If you need help remembering the order of the MCU movies, there's an inspirational trailer below featuring the titles of all the other films, starting with "Iron Man" in 2008. And Screen Junkies put together a long video that recaps the story arcs for all the characters.

"Avengers: Endgame" clocks in at just over three hours long. Sure, that sounds like a lot. But most fans (like my son) have seen all or most of the other 21 movies . . . which means an investment of 44.8 hours into the MCU over the past 11 years.

I know a lot of people are excited, but if you're going to the movie this weekend, DON'T spoil it for anyone who's still trying to catch up with the other movies and plans to see it next weekend. Ok?!

And for those of us who find 3 hours an awful long time, especially if you got the giant drink combo from the concession stand, there ARE places in the movie where you can run to the restroom. Johnna has the timing perfected for you!)

Unfortunately, it sounds like this movie will be the last cameo we get from Stan Lee. He passed away in November at the age of 95. We'd originally heard that he might have filmed more scenes before his death, but director Joe Russo revealed earlier this month that the cameo he did for "Endgame" will be the last one used in the MCU movies. So it's basically Stan's endgame too.
