Sesame Street Introduces New Muppet in Foster Care

There's someone new in the Sesame Street neighborhood.

Sesame Street is introducing a new Muppet in foster care named Karli. The friendly yellow-haired Muppet will aim to highlight different types of families.

Karli is friends with Elmo and her arrival comes just in time for National Foster Care Month this May.

Sesame Street also offers resources to help children in crisis cope with separation from their birth parents, placement in foster care, and possible reunions.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, there are more than 440-thousand children and youth in foster care across the United States.
