Who knew there was a connection between doughnuts and Apollo 11... but Krispy Kreme was there!
As reported by Space.com, there's footage in the NEON and CNN Films' documentary "Apollo 11" that actually shows a snack stand offering Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the VIP launch viewing area for NASA's Apollo 11 on the morning of July 16, 1969 when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins started their journey to the moon!
While I don't think filling a glazed doughnut ranks up there with a moon landing, I'm still sitting here wondering what kind of space-age technology allows Krispy Kreme to FILL the RING of the doughnut instead of the center.
