New Orleans Mardi Gras 2021: Could It Be Canceled?

With so many festivals already canceled in New Orleans, the mayor was asked about Mardi Gras next year. LaToya Cantrell says it's "something we have to think about."

New Orleans has had fingers pointed at this year's Mardi Gras for spreading the virus exponentially, even though the CDC did not advise against large gatherings until March 12th...weeks after Mardi Gras day (Feb 25).

And the mayor got a lot of flak for canceling St Patrick's Day parades and parties.... some of which happened anyway, forcing police to break them up.

The mayor says the data will determine whether they can host Mardi Gras... which has actually been canceled several times over the years, once due to health concerns (a yellow fever outbreak in 1879.)

The 2021 Mardi Gras season runs from January 6 through February 16.
