Ida Now A Hurricane

Ida is now a hurricane and is making its way toward the northern Gulf coast. Forecasters still expect it to make landfall here on Sunday.

It has already come ashore on a Cuban island (Isle of Youth) with winds of up to 75 miles per hour.

As Ida approaches the central Gulf Coast Sunday afternoon, total rainfall accumulations of 8 to 16 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches are possible from southeast Louisiana to coastal Mississippi and Alabama through Monday morning.
