The sausage festival is a town fund-raiser, spearheaded by Elberta's Volunteer Fire Department. The festival has over 200 arts and crafts booths, live music (polka, country, contemporary and German music), carnival rides, and they cook up approx. 6,000 lbs of Elberta German Sausage per festival. Celebrate the Native American heritage of Dauphin Island and surrounding areas dating back to 1100 AD! Experience "of the period" hands-on demonstrations of Native American arts and crafts such as pottery, weaving, and canoe carving. Living historians and storytellers will exhibit 18th and 19th century Creek hunting camps and tell fascinating stories about Native Americans and the French who made port on Dauphin Island in 1699. Aubreigh Nicholas was a brave and fierce fighter during her 11-month battle with DIPG – the deadliest form of brain cancer. During her fight, Aubreigh’s spirit shined, and she started the Lemon Face Challenge, which went viral all over the world. March 28th would have been her 15th Birthday. Let’s celebrate Aubreigh at this wonderful event and keep her legacy going. This group will keep fighting and continue to fund research for DIPG. They’ve joined the DIPG Collaborative, a national organization of foundations to come together to find treatment, and ultimately a cure for DIPG. CLICK HERE
