Engineering Student Gives Uber Driver's Daughter 3D Robotic Hands

In Indiana, a stunning chance Uber meeting resulted in a college student lending a big hand to someone who needed it most.  Back in February, a Notre Dame student called for an Uber. The chatty engineer student started talking to his driver and fortunately asked about his family. Doug Anderson started talking about his 11-year-old daughter.

Doug and wife adopted Tori from China and she was born with only one finger on each hand, which caused her huge embarrassment. They could've had Tori fitted for prosthetic, but doctors said she would quickly outgrow them and they're super expensive. Money's been tight for the parents after they've adopted three children with special needs. So, Doug is driving Uber to earn extra money, but he also likes to socialize.

As fate would have it, the student in the back seat Cole Grabowski, was the perfect person to chat with. Grabowski works for an engineering group called e-Nable. The group prints 3D robotic hands and they've been searching in vein for a child who needed one.

Working together, they got the perfect fit and Tori has a new set of 3D printed hands. She can now throw a baseball, hold a pencil and blow bubbles. Her father overwhelmed with gratitude and thinks that God absolutely had a hand in this!
