I've done a lot of things in my 35 year radio career... but this is perhaps the biggest leap of faith. And frankly, that's why I did it last year... so many times during my career I turned things down, because they were too dangerous. You know, I'm a Mom... my kids need me, etc etc. And they probably still need me, but the fact is, they're not little anymore. And I'm not getting any younger. So it's now or never, right?
That was my reason for rappelling last year. I'm still not sure why I did it this year! But how cool is it to have Rebekah Hoeger and videographer Josh Harlan document the event?! This will make my Mom proud. Which I owe her, considering how scared of heights she is, and how nervous this whole thing makes her!
Of course, it's not about me... it's about raising money for 7 local charities-Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation, The Beverly Burton Scholarship Fund, Camp Smile, The Family Center, The Shriners Children's Transportation Fund, The Down Syndrome Society of Mobile, and Marine Corps League.
And that's STILL going on, at least through the end of the month. You can donate at www.otemobile.com. We're close to our goal, but not there yet.... so don't leave us hanging! (Y
