I know we share this info every year, but I never want to assume that everyone has seen it.

This happened just this week near Destin--

A 49-year old Georgia man who tried to help his daughter and her friend struggling in rough surf in the Gulf of Mexico...

Here's an easy graphic to help you (and help you teach your kids).

4/3/17 SURF REPORT: red flags flying on #GulfShores beaches due to high surf and strong currents. For more information about beach safety visit http://www.gulfshoresal.gov/377/Beaches

Also, check social media when going to the beach, to see if there are any reports of rip currents or red flags.  You also want to be aware of purple flags... totally different hazard... dangerous marine life... could be anything from jellyfish to sharks.  Check the flags!!
