Wait. What? Alfonso Ribeiro Can't Get Copyright for #CarltonDance?

The U.S. Copyright Office is denying to register actor Alfonso Ribeiro's "Carlton Dance" because it is a simple dance routine.

Simple? Maybe. But do we all know immediately what it is when we see someone dancing that way? Absolutely. So this decision is a bit mind-boggling.

It also makes it harder for Alfonso Ribeiro to sue the video games "Fortnite" and "NBA 2K" which allow players to have their avatars perform the Carlton Dance.

Ribeiro created the dance in 1991 on the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" playing the character of Carlton.
