The State Fair of Texas will not happen this year. The Board of Directors announced the cancellation of the Fair today citing the coronavirus pandemic and the need to keep workers, Fairgoers, and the community safe. Board Chair Gina Norris says it's the safest and most responsible decision.
The Fair was last canceled during World War Two.
The State Fair of Texas is famous for its food... with the Big Tex Choice Awards narrowing the list of contenders each year.
Last year's new foods debuting at the State Fair of Texas included the Southern Fried Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Ball, Quick-Fried “Black Gold” Truffles, and the Fla’Mango Tango.
Who knows what we could have had this year. Well, there's always 2021.
