No Mask, No Service: Retailers Requiring Masks To Shop

It was a totally different scene in my local Walmart yesterday. Almost everyone in the store was wearing a mask, and most of them were worn properly (not under the nose or chin).

And this was a day before Walmart's new mask rule took effect.

Walmart and Sam's Club, along with several other retailers, are now requiring shoppers to wear a mask in order to enter the store. Walmart will even have 'health ambassadors' at the door, to remind you of the mask requirement and offer you a mask if you want to shop.

Fresh Market has been doing this for a while (since April) and frankly, it's one of the reasons I've been shopping there a lot more.

Other retailers that have basically said "no mask, no service" include: Target (Aug 1), CVS, Walgreens, Lowes, Home Depot (July 22), Best Buy, Starbucks, Kohls, Costco and Publix. Dollar Tree had announced a mask requirement, but according to Forbes, has backtracked on that.

Of course, for those who are in Alabama, there is a state mask mandate in effect. The City of Pensacola also has a mask requirement. But for other areas, these stores are taking the lead and requiring masks to protect employees and shoppers.

Many retailers offer curbside and delivery, if you don't want to come into the store.

Oh, and for those of you thinking you can get around the mask requirements using that "Face Mask Exempt Card" you saw on the Internet? Those are fake.
