"Look For The Helpers"-- Locals Heading to Louisiana After Hurricane Laura

Mr. Rogers mother said it best. "Always look for the helpers."

And my very favorite part of his quote? "Because if you look for the helpers, you'll know that there's hope."

Our area is sending helpers... and hope... to hurricane victims in Louisiana.

Here are some of those lending a hand:

Alabama Task Force 1- This is Mobile's elite search and rescue team, made up of firefighters and other first responders.

The Salvation Army- Captain Trey Jones of Mobile will be in charge of the Lake Charles Salvation Army operation, along with two mobile feeding units (canteens) from Mobile

Alabama Power and Gulf Power- Local crews are heading to assist those in Louisiana with restoring power to over 400 thousand customers

American Red Cross- Mobile workers and others helping to provide emergency shelter

Alabama National Guard- Four Alabama National Guard Black Hawk helicopters have been sent to help in rescue and other efforts
