Powerful Inaugural Poet Overcame Speech Impediment

While American leadership is changing hands, a 22-year-old woman made a name for herself on the country's biggest stage Wednesday.

Amanda Gorman was making history anyway as the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. But social media has blown up about the young woman's delivery of her powerful poem and message of unity as the new administration takes charge.

And a lot of people are blown away when they learn that this powerful speaker had to overcome a speech impediment. And a song from "Hamilton" helped! (Did you hear the "Hamilton" reference in the poem?)

Gorman graduated from Harvard last year. Hoda Kotb of TODAY recalled seeing an interview in which Amanda said the day she was accepted to Harvard she was nervous about telling people, because she had trouble saying the "R" in Harvard, so she practiced and practiced to be able to say it.)
