New Inspiring Women Barbie: Eleanor Roosevelt

Just in time for International Women's Day, Mattel adds former First Lady and U.N. spokesperson Eleanor Roosevelt to Barbie's Inspiring Women Collection.

She joins Dr. Maya Angelou, Billie Jean King, Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Sally Ride and others in being honored by Barbie as role models for young people.

Ruth Handler created Barbies in 1959 after seeing how much her daughter loved paper dolls. And a lot of us grew up loving that doll as much as Ruth's daughter Barbara did.

This collection, to me, makes Barbie even more special.
