You see stories like this in other parts of the country... moms going to extremes to get something for their daughters. Sometimes illegal extremes.
Like yesterday, when a Pennsylvania woman was charged for allegedly creating deepfake videos of teens to get them removed from her daughter's cheerleading squad.
But also yesterday, here on the Gulf Coast, a mom and daughter were charged with accessing student accounts online to cast fraudulent votes for the homecoming election last year at Tate High school.
How does something like this happen?
The FDLE, in a news release, says they conducted an investigation into unauthorized access into hundreds of student accounts in Escambia County. That investigation determined that Laura Carroll, an assistant principal at Bellview Elementary School, and her 17 year old daughter, a student at Tate High School, had accessed the accounts.
There were 246 votes cast for the Homecoming Court from Carroll's cellphone and computers in their home, according to FDLE.
And according to WEAR ABC 3, Carroll's daughter was named Tate High School's 2020 Homecoming Queen.
FDLE also uncovered similar activity in 2019.
Carroll was arrested and her daughter taken to Juvenile Detention.
