"If you build it, they will come." Those words haunted Kevin Costner in "Field of Dreams."
And many of us can recite from memory the "People will come, Ray" speech by James Earl Jones.
Tonight, 30 years later, they're coming.
Anticipation is as high as the corn stalks for the MLB's "Field of Dreams" game in Dyersville, Iowa, tonight. The White Sox and Yankees will collide in a game at a site where the iconic movie was filmed.
And Kevin Costner is supposed to throw out the first pitch.
It was supposed to happen last year, but was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
I love baseball and I love that movie. So yes, we'll be watching.
My only regret? Not being able to watch the game with one of Guy Fieri's special Apple Pie Hot Dogs. Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist tried one on TODAY this morning, and he brought tears to my eyes when he said, "That's America right there!"
Play ball!
