It looked like something out of an action movie. But instead of Tom Cruise or Vin Diesel, this action hero is a deputy just doing his job to stop a runaway boat.
And as the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office joked, "Deputy Fernandes does his own stunts."
The operator had fallen off the boat, causing it to speed away at over 40mph unmanned. He was rescued by another boater.
The Coast Guard tried to stop the boat by deploying prop fowling devices, but no luck. That's when the deputies intercepted the speeding boat, and Deputy Fernandes jumped aboard. Cudos to Deputy Constant for getting close enough for that jump.
