A video released ahead of the movie A Dog's Purpose looked bad -- very bad. It showed what looked to be an act of animal cruelty on the set of a movie that celebrates dogs. But after a couple of days of outrage and many animal lovers saying they wouldn't see this movie, the producer had his say and blamed a lot of what we saw on PETA -- claiming they were pushing this misleading video in order to serve their agenda (which, in my humble opinion, has little to do with love of animals).
Now, following an independent investigation, an animal cruelty expert concluded that no animal cruelty actually occurred and that the video was deliberately edited to mislead. But the damage was done to the movie, and PETA is celebrating its little victory.
