Gander Mountain is filing for bankruptcy and will close four stores in Alabama -- including a relatively new store in Mobile. The sports and outdoor recreation retailer has been struggling in the face of online competition. The Mobile location opened its doors at Airport & Schillinger in late 2014 after getting a tax incentive package from the City of Mobile.
The closure will leave a big hole to fill at Westwood Plaza, where the 50,000 square foot store is located in West Mobile. You can still shop online (if you can't beat 'em, join 'em), and there are still several retail locations left, including one in Pensacola.
