In the end, it wasn't the stream of sexual harassment allegations that got Bill O'Reilly. It was the advertising dollars. Numerous advertisers had pulled their money from Bill O'Reilly's Fox News Channel program after news surfaced that Fox had settled five separate sexual harassment lawsuits against O'Reilly, to the tune of $13 million.
Bill O'Reilly took a vacation while the allegations were being investigated, but he was supposed to be back on the air upon his April 24th return. But this afternoon (Wed 4/19), the final hammer dropped and Bill O'Reilly was let go.
UPDATE: CNN reports that Bill O'Reilly is getting a lot of severance, nearly double what Fox made in settlements to his five alleged victims. He had recently been given a new $25 million per year contract; but Fox is on the hook for just a year of that. Still, $25,000,000.... lots of zeroes there. Nice retirement if you can get it.
