Whole Foods: Is This the End of Checkout Lines?

Big financial and consumer news this morning, as we found out that online retailer Amazon.com is buying Whole Foods Market for $13.7 billion. Amazon has been pretty interested in groceries lately, with efforts toward making home delivery a thing. But maybe their biggest innovation is their "Amazon Go" technology, which looks really cool. Shoppers would enter the store and basically check-in on their Amazon Go app; then shop for whatever they want and everything they pick up goes to their virtual cart. Don't worry, they say you can change your mind and put the item back... and then it will be removed. At the end of shopping, leave the store and the app will total your bill and charge your account. Done!

So we can't help but wonder if Amazon just bought themselves a store in which to try out this innovation.
