There was a time we couldn't get away from Gangnam Style. The almost annoyingly catchy tune from Psy, the South Korean rapper, was the first YouTube video to reach one billion views. Today, it's pushing 2.9 billion views -- more than YouTube could even handle in 2014. According to Billboard.com, the streaming service previously had a limit of a little more than 2 billion views.
But while Psy made YouTube history with Gangnam Style, it was inevitably going to be passed -- even with a head start of several years. The new #1 most viewed YouTube video, with more than 2.9 billion views, is See You Again. The Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth song is from the Furious 7 movie, and also serves as a tribute to the late Paul Walker.
Charlie Puth was clearly humbled by the news, tweeting that he joined YouTube with the hope of one day having a video on it with 10,000 views. Yeah, Charlie's blown right past that. And blown past 10,000 x 10,000 views too.
