Now Parrots Are Ordering Stuff from Amazon Alexa

The Amazon Echo is a great piece of technology, and really not expensive at $179.99. The smart home device plays music from iHeartRadio, will read books to you, dim the lights.... the list goes on.

But it also has a bad habit of ordering stuff from Amazon if you aren't particularly careful... or have a parrot. Yes, a parrot ordered stuff on Amazon Prime using the Echo.

It happened in Australia, where Buddy the parrot learned to say "Alexa," and that's all Buddy needed to access Amazon's ordering system. So yeah, Buddy placed an order.... and maybe Amazon needs to work on some voice recognition upgrades for the next generation of Echo.

Shucks!!! Parrot problem!!! My African Grey just ordered something online đŸ˜³ Returning home I could hear Buddy talking... Buddy: "Alexa" Buddy: "gibberish gibberish gibberish " (couldn't quite hear what he was saying) Alexa: "Sorry I didn't get that" Buddy: "Alexa" Buddy: "gibberish bla bla bla" Alexa: "What is it you want to order?" Buddy: "some more gibberish..." On hour later while working on the mac, a notification came up - your Amazon order has been placed! WHAT!!! #amazon #alexa #ultimatecakeart #amazonprime
