NOAA Predicts Above Normal 2021 Hurricane Season

No one wants an above normal hurricane season after 2020. But the good news in this prediction is that "experts do not anticipate the historic level of storm activity seen in 2020."

I think we need to read that again: "experts do not anticipate the historic level of storm activity seen in 2020."

Whew.

What they're expecting is 13 to 20 named storms, with 6 to 10 of them becoming hurricanes and 3 to 5 of those becoming major hurricanes.

Of course, it only takes ONE storm hitting our area to make it a bad season. So they're urging people to prepare. And after last season, we all know a few things we'd like to have in place before another storm hits.

The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1st and the first name on the list is Ana.

Last year, we went deep into the Greek alphabet when we ran out of storm names. That won't happen again. There's now a supplemental list of names available.
