I remember as a 9 year old, being a huge baseball fan, in particular, a fan of Mobile's own Hammerin' Hank Aaron.
I can remember that day, ( April 8th, 1974,) watching television with my Dad as Hank Aaron knocked a home run over the left field wall at Fulton County Stadium and broke Babe Ruth's long-time home run record of 714. (I think they were playing the Dodgers?)
From all reports, he was a kind and humble man and will go down as one of the greatest baseball players of all time.
Earlier today, Hammerin' Hank passed away at the age of 86. R.I.P. Hank Aaron, and thank you for all of the great and positive memories.
